Getting Ready

I printed the writing craftivity prep sheets out on both plain paper and colorful printer paper so kids would have an option.

I decided to print the ice cream scoops on Astrobright cardstock to give them a fun pop of color and then I printed the bases on plain white cardstock to give them added durability.

I grabbed some glue, crayons, scissors and a pencil for each student and we were all set!

To start the writing  craftivity, I handed out the writing practice sheets.

We briefly discussed what the terms “first, next, then and last” meant and what their order was.

Then, it was time to do a little daydreaming!

I encouraged the kids to think of what would make a perfectly sweet summer…

Heading to the beach…

After the practice sheets were filled out, I let kids pick from an assortment of different colored ice cream scoops.

They carefully cut out the ice cream scoops and copied their writing onto the lines.

Then it was time to assemble and decorate!

Kids chose to build their ice cream writing craftivity on top of either a cone or bowl.

They carefully glued each ice cream scoop to each other and finally attached the stack to their chosen base.

The summery sweet writing activity was so fun to see hanging up on the wall!

  1. I can not get the download button to work. Is there another way I can download?

    THanks!

  2. Hi! I love this idea! I’m wondering since this is a free download, can I share this with my school as a possible school-wide activity for an academic night at the end of the year?
