Writing Center Starter Kit

May 1, 2018 by Malia Hollowell Filed Under: First Grade Writing, Kindergarten Writing, Plato's Blog, Writing Conventions Leave a Comment

Activity for ages 5 to 7.

If you’re looking for writing center supplies for kindergarten or first grade, this set is for you!

The writing center starter kit includes everything you need to set up a station as a separate space in your classroom or to make go-to writing folders each student can keep in her desk and pull out during writing time.

It even has EDITABLE sheets so you can create just-right word lists and lined paper with customized rubrics.

Download your set in our shop or on Teachers Pay Teachers!

Peek Inside

The 100 page pack includes so many helpful resources.

If you’re setting up a designated space in your classroom, hang up the colorful bunting to add a fun pop of color.

Fill your center with helpful tools kids can use as they’re writing including colorful alphabet posters…

And alphabet charts and digraph blend sheets…

Plus 17 themed lists showing common words for holidays, family, school and other kid-friendly topics.

(I included a UK version AND an editable sheet so you can type a list of classmates’ names, make a word list for your town…. anything under the sun!)

Help students spell their sight word lists correctly with handy Dolch, Fry and combination lists.

Then decide if you want to bind the writing paper into a writing journal using the set of cover pages.

(I printed mine on neon paper to give them a fun pop of color but you could use white and have kids’ color them too.)

The set includes a variety of writing paper for you to pick from including primary and single lined options.

And there’s even a sheet with an EDITABLE rubric so you can type in your school’s writing standards!

When students are finished, have them check that they remembered five key writing rules.

Viola! Setting up a highly effective writing center is as easy as hitting print.
