Gingerbread Man Sight Word Game

Activity for ages 5 to 7.

Memorizing sight words takes lots of practice so I love to keep learning fun by playing motivating sight word games. This simple gingerbread man boardgame is perfect for the holidays and, because it’s editable, it works with any words under the sun. Just like our mega pack of editable sight word games, the activity is so easy to differentiate for different learners!

Getting Ready

To prep, I simply typed in Big Brother’s (age 7) words into the gameboard and printed it on cardstock to give it extra durability. Then I grabbed two playing pieces (one for him and one for me) and a die.

Gingerbread Race

Playing the game was just as easy as the prep.

Big Brother and I took turns rolling the die and moving our piece that many spaces.

We read and spelled the word out loud and then wrote it on our record sheet to reinforce the spelling one more time.

That’s it! Gingerbread Race was such a motivating (and easy prep) way to practice sight words!
