Activity for ages 5 to 8.
I’m crazy about editable sight word games because they make it so easy to differentiate. With just a few clicks of our keyboard, we can make one literacy center that’s just right for our highest readers and then, moments later, print a second version of the exact same game that’s a perfect fit for our struggling students.
(Do you love easy but powerful teaching tools too?)
To play this Valentine Sight Word Game, simply type in your word list and print out the game board.
(Because the game is editable, you can make as many different versions of the game as you need.)
Then print one record sheet for each student and grab some dice and playing pieces.
Playing the Game
The simple game is super motivating!
Player One rolls the di, moves her playing piece that many spaces on the board, and then reads the word she lands on out loud.
Then both players write the sight word on their record sheet and it’s Player Two’s turn to roll, read and spell.
Play continues until a student reaches the finish line and then players clear the board and start over again.
