Summer Fun Box

June 5, 2015 by Malia Hollowell Filed Under: Being Kind, Free Printables, Plato's Blog, Summer Leave a Comment

Activity for ages 3 to 8.

Battle boredom by sending an awesome summer fun box to some lucky kids in your life. Scotch® Brand and I are teaming up to give you all the details you need for a #MakeAmazing summer they’ll never forget. With just a quick trip to the store and a couple minutes of prep, you’ll be making far away loved ones’ summers extra special too.

I am proud to be a Scotch® Brand compensated blogger. Opinions are my own and additional products used in this project were selected by me. This post contains Amazon affiliate links.

Getting Ready

To prep, I printed the free summer fun box labels and activity cubes  {HERE} on cardstock to give them extra durability. Then I cut everything apart and set them aside while my kids and I ran to the dollar store to pick up some goodies.

Summer Fun Box Printables

The first time around, we decided to send a summer fun box to a friend who’d recently moved away. The boys {ages 3.5 and 5.5} loved picking out treats their long distance buddy would love:

  • a puzzle
  • sidewalk chalk
  • watercolor paints
  • jump rope
  • plastic pail
  • bottle of bubbles
  • glitter glue
  • glow sticks
  • stickers
  • coloring book
  • crayons
  • markers
  • silly string
  • pipe cleaners
  • beads

When we came home, my boys were eager to help me stick the labels on each surprise. First, we flipped over the cute “Hope you dig the break” tag and rolled our Scotch® Double Sided Adhesive Roller along the top and bottom. Then we pressed the label firmly to the sandbox pail, sticking it securely.

Such a fun idea! Send a summer fun box to kids.

We adhered the “I’m stuck on you” label to the pack of stickers…

and tagged the jump rope, crayons and bubbles too.

Summer Fun Box Cubes

When we were ready, we carefully folded along the inner lines of our summer fun box activity cubes {HERE} to create clean edges. We applied the Scotch® Double Sided Adhesive Roller along each white tab to make it sticky and pressed the tabs against the sides to secure them.

Summer activity cubes! Fun way to battle the B word.

The boys couldn’t resist rolling the cubes a few times to make sure the activities were as fun as I’d promised.

Next, we grabbed a shipping box large enough to fit everything and secured the bottom with some packaging tape. We carefully placed everything inside and stuck our colorful tag to the top flap to officially make it a summer fun box.

Super fun idea! Send a summer fun box to kids.

After securing the top of the box with packaging tape, we addressed and adhered the shipping labels including in the free set {HERE} and hopped into the car to head to the post office. Easy peasy and fun for us too.
