Little Mouse, Little Mouse

Activity for ages 3 to 5.

This alphabet game is one of my hands-down favorites! It’s a simple way to teach ABC letters and, as a big bonus, it’s seriously fun entertainment for kids.

Getting Ready

Prep was easy peasy.

I printed off the houses and mouse and quickly cut them out.

Then I ran everything through my laminator for extra durability.

We were all set!

Little Mouse, Little Mouse

Since I was using this game to review, I laid all the alphabet houses on the table and hid the mouse behind one.

My 3.5 year old came running over the moment the words “Little Mouse” came out of my mouth.

I wasn’t exaggerating when I said it’s a favorite!

When the mouse was safely hidden, I asked my son what house he’d like to look under first. “T!” he shouted.

Together we chanted, “Little Mouse, Little Mouse, are you in the T house?” and then he eagerly lifted up the house marked with the Tt.

The mouse wasn’t there so he tried again.

My son continued saying the rhyme, naming his letters and lifting the houses until he found the hidden mouse under the Qq house.

The moment he succeeded, he begged to start playing again!

  1. Jodie @ Growing Book by Book

I absolutely love this! My kids love anything to do with mice. Eekk! We will be making and doing this tomorrow! Thanks so much for the great and easy idea.

Hooray! I’m excited that the Little Mouse game is helpful, Jodie. I hope your kids enjoy it as much as my boys do. 🙂

  2. Shelli

I found this game almost 5 years ago when I was teaching my daughter her colors. It helped her learn them so fast! She loved the game. We have since then used this game to learn letters and sight words. It has been so fun for my daughter- now she is 6 1/2 and still gets excited when I get it out. I don’t even make it cute anymore- I just use a card with the letter on it but hide the mouse under it. So much fun!

I love knowing that Little Mouse is a hit in your house too, Shelli. It’s seriously addictive, isn’t it?! I even love to play. Thanks for sharing your ABC twist with us. 🙂
