I love teaching kids about the weather! There’s something magical about the way the systems of the earth work together so smoothly to create our weather patterns. This free printable weather game is a great way to review weather words in a fun and playful way.

Getting Ready
This game works great as a morning center or as an independent activity but I wanted to play it with my daughter before using it in my classroom because she’s been so interested in the weather lately!
To prep, I simply printed out the Weather Game (below) on cardstock. I also laminated it for extra durability so we could keep using it throughout the year!
Then, I printed copies of the playing card page and stored them in a Ziploc baggie. If you choose not to print the extra copies of the playing cards, you can just reshuffle when you get to the bottom of the pile.
To finish, I grabbed two playing markers for each player.
Playing the Weather Game
We placed our markers on the “Start” snowflake. Then, we placed the cards upside down on the “Card Draw Pile.”
My daughter went first.
She drew a top card from the pile and moved the first space with the matching picture. She drew a sun! She moved her marker on the sun spot.
Then, it was my turn. I picked up a “lightning” card! I headed to the closest lightning space. (If you draw a lightning card, head to the nearest lightning space, even if it’s behind you.) I then followed the arrows to where the lightning directed me to go.
We played through the whole game until then end. Since the rule is you can only win by landing on the sun and you MUST draw a sun from the pile in order to move, it took us a while! This game ended up being great fun.

When you click the blue “Download Here” button, a pop-up should open. You can try checking to make sure your browser isn’t blocking pop-ups from the site or try using a different browser. If you happen to be attempting the download at school, your district’s web filter may be blocking the pop-up. Let me know if you’re not able to get the game!

I’ve just checked to ensure the link is working. Are you able to try allowing pop-ups or using a different browser? We’ve also found that district web filters can block the pop-up if you happen to be attempting the download at school.
