QR (or Quick Response) codes are a great way to make learning more engaging for kids at school or at home. Children love solving math problems and then scanning the QR codes to see if their answer is correct!  For example, it makes a great skip counting activity!

These free skip counting QR codes are perfect for classroom math centers, small group work or extra practice at home.  For more math fun, check out our Place Value Cover Up!

I have really loved using QR codes lately. They allow students to get instant feedback on their math practice. Plus, kids LOVE to scan things. I mean really love it. It makes math practice feel like a fun game and they get so excited to see their correct answers on the screen. Making math fun!? You can’t beat that.

Getting Ready

I printed the skip counting task cards in color, cut them apart and laminated them for durability and reuse. Then, I grabbed dry erase markers for kids to write their solutions in the empty boxes on the task cards. Easy peasy!

Scanning the QR Codes with Skip Counting

To play the activity, kids grabbed one card at a time and looked at the series of boxes in the middle. They read the number shown and then, starting at that number, skip counted up and down to fill in the blanks with their dry erase markers.

Then, they scanned the QR code at the bottom of the card to check their answers and fix any mistakes.

Scan with a Free App

Because the answers are embedded in the code and were displayed on the reader when scanned, kids needed a QR Code Reader to check their answers.

There are many free apps available for Apple and Android devices. So no fancy new equipment is needed to use this resource – your cell phone or iPad can work just fine. Just grab one of the free apps available in your favorite app store and you’re ready to scan!

    1. Hi Karla,
When you click the blue “Download Here” button, a pop-up should open. You can try checking to make sure your browser isn’t blocking pop-ups from the site or try using a different browser. Let me know if you’re not able to get the QR codes!
      Warmly,
