Hi Tammy,
Great question!
Place a paperclip on the pumpkin in the center of the spinner. Then, hold the paperclip in place by “pinning” the paperclip down with the pencil so that it can spin around the pencil, but not move around the page. Then, students simply “flick” the paperclip around the pencil to spin.

Hi Lisa,
We don’t have a generic version of this counting mat; however, you can use this mat with any kind of counters. However, if you prefer not to do that, you may want to check out our Fall Number Puzzles or our Pumpkin Ten Frames – neither of which require counters.
