The simple humor in Laura Numeroff’s whitty children’s books makes them fun for kids and grown ups alike.
After reading the classic If You Give a Mouse a Cookie a few days ago, I pulled out a little surprise for my kids: a set of cookie counting cards in serious need of some chocolate chips. They were THRILLED with the challenge and eagerly got to work.
I hope your kids love the freebie, too! You’ll love our Number Formation Pack, too!

Getting Ready
I printed the “If You Give a Mouse a Cookie” counting cardson cardstock to give them extra durability and make the colors really pop.
Then I cut them apart and grabbed a bag of chocolate chips from the pantry.
If You Give a Mouse a Cookie Counting Cards
Big Brother {age 5} was ready to jump right into teen numbers so he grabbed eleven and started adding the chips.
Since Middle Brother {age 3.5} was still practicing reading numbers and counting one object at a time, I had him start with the number 1, then move on to number 2 and so on.
One card after another, the boys read {snacked} and counted their way to better number sense.

Yum! I want to do these today. Totally trying these out with the kiddos.
Using chocolate chips makes counting even more fun!
What a yummy way to practice counting!
I am also a blogger and am planning on an upcoming blog post on ways to keep your preschoolers busy while homeschooling older kids. My blog is not primarily about homeschooling but many of my followers are “crunchy” homeschooling mamas. I will be adding back-links to your post to drive traffic back your way, wondering if you ever need guest blog posts? Please let me know if so!
Thanks for all you do!
