Q-tip Snowflakes

Activity for ages 3 to 5.

Busy bags are an easy way to entertain the kids when you’re on the go. Make them once, throw them into your bag, and you’re ready for some screen-free distraction in doctors’ offices, on planes and in restaurants.

Just like last month, I teamed up with some of my favorite blogging buddies to create a batch of addictively fun, brand new busy bags for kids. Since the holidays are just around the corner, the lineup this time has plenty of gingerbread men, candy canes and snow. Grab our Q-tip snowflakes below and then check out our friends’ awesome activities at the bottom of the post. Enjoy!

Awesome Busy Bag for Kids! Make Q-tip snowflakes!!Making the Q-tip Busy Bag

Making this busy bag is quick and easy. I printed the snowflake tracing cards on cardstock for extra durability and cut them apart. Then I grabbed a handful of Q-tips and slid them into a Ziploc bag. That’s it. See?! I promised it was easy.

A little while later, I pulled out the busy bag and invited my 5-year-old to pick a card and start tracing it with Q-tips. Since every snowflake is different in the real world, I made a variety of designs for my mini-engineer. Easy ones like this cross.

I tried printing the q-tip snowflakes and the q-tip silhouette is smaller than a traditional q-tip. Has anyone else had this issue or is it possibly just an incorrect setting on my printer?

I’m sorry to hear that you’re having difficulty printing the snowflakes to scale, Tiffany. In case it helps, my printer’s an HP and the sizing was spot on.

Hope you’re having a good start to your week!

Could we use this printable and make up a handful of busy bags to donate to our local Children’s hospital? I don’t know what the terms of use are and didn’t want to do something I shouldn’t.
