Getting Ready

To prep, I simply printed the heart cards on cardstock to give them extra durability and ran them through my laminator before cutting them apart.

The download (below) includes two versions of record sheets – an uppercase sheet that works on matching the capital letter cards with the identical uppercase letter on the record sheet, and a second option that stretches kids to pair the uppercase cards with their lowercase pairs.

Since Little Sister (age 4) was ready for the challenge, I printed a copy of the latter choice so that she could work on upper and lowercase combinations.

Then, I grabbed our stash of crayons and viola! We were ready to play this fun alphabet activity!

Alphabet Hearts Activity

Playing the game was simple but oh so fun!

Little Sister picked up one card at a time, named the letter out loud and then colored the letter on her record sheet to match.

Since the “B” heart was blue, she colored the lowercase “b” blue, too.

One heart after the next, she worked her way through the stack until she’d colored all 26 letters.
