Teaching boys how to keep the bathroom clean is… well… tough. After scrubbing down the bathroom for the third time in a week, I decided to give my boys {ages 5 and 3} a big challenge: follow five simple steps to become bathroom superheroes.

I whipped up some colorful superhero bathroom signs, slid them into simple white frames, and posted them above our toilets so they’d be easy to see.

The concept was pretty simple – I wanted my boys to follow five basic bathroom rules:

  1. Lift the seat.
  2. Aim.
  3. Put down the seat.
  4. Flush the toilet.
  5. Wash their hands.

Pretty self explanatory, right?!

I printed the superhero signs on cardstock to make them sturdy and bright. Then I placed each one in a simple white picture frame I picked up at the dollar store and hung them above our toilets with removable hanging strips so I could easily take them down when our mission was complete.

My boys and I practiced the steps together a few times and then they eagerly set out to master their superhero skills on their own.

I’m uber excited with the change we’ve seen. It’s pretty major – dry toilet seats, clean floors, fresh hands…
