Rhymes for kids help children notice that words are clumps of sounds with a similar pattern.  When they begin spelling and reading words later, they’ll notice that rhyming words often end with the same letters.  For instance, cat, bat, sat and hat all end with the letters –AT.  When you think of classic rhymes for kids, This Little Piggy ranks right up at the top!  This set of free printable finger puppets is a fun way to bring the rhyme to life.

Kids of all ages love the easy lyrics and ticklish toe wiggling.  For more preschool fun, check out our Ultimate Preschool Activity Pack!

This Little Piggy Lyrics

This Little Piggy is quick and easy to recite. The lyrics are:

This little piggy went to the market,

This little piggy stayed home.

This little piggy had roast beef.

This little piggy had none.

This little piggy went, “Wee wee wee wee” all the way home.

I’m a total Type A, so I like to see what rhymes for kids are supposed to sound like before reciting them for my own children. In case you like seeing rhymes in action too, my sons and I put together a video showing you how we use the Little Piggy finger puppets.
